The Erasmus + program distinguishes students who are citizens or residents of program countries and partner countries. Students from program countries are:

Students who are citizens of one of the 28 member states of the European Union: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Finland, France, Greece, Ireland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal, United Kingdom. Sweden, Bulgaria, Malta, Poland, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, and Croatia.

Students who are citizens of one of the following countries: Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey, Northern Macedonia, and Serbia.

Students who meet the eligibility criteria for both categories, such as students with dual citizenship, should choose their preferred category. As a result, they are only eligible to apply for one of two scholarship categories at a time.

For both categories, the following eligibility criteria apply to Erasmus + Scholarship:

  • Students applying for a JMD Scholarship for a specific academic entry cannot submit a scholarship application to more than three JMD Consortia.
  • Students who have already received JMD Scholarship, Erasmus Mundus Master Course Scholarship, or Erasmus Mundus Joint Doctoral Scholarship are not eligible to apply for additional scholarships under JMD Action.
  • Students who benefit from JMD Scholarships will not be able to take advantage of other EU Scholarships while studying at Erasmus + JMD.

Erasmus+ program Tuition Fees

  • Partner Countries students: €9000 / year;
  • Program Countries students: €4500 / year.

Erasmus+ program Scholarships

The Erasmus+ program provides EU-funded scholarships to students who have been selected by the consortia. Two categories of scholarships are available.

The scholarship for students from Programme Countries comprises:

  • Participation costs: up to 4,500 euros per year
  • Travel costs: 1,000 euros per year
  • Contribution to subsistence costs: 1,000 euros per month for the entire duration of the BDMA program (24 months maximum).

The scholarship for students from Partner Countries comprises:

  • Participation costs: up to 9,000 euros per year
  • Travel costs: 2,000 or 3,000 euros per year, depending on whether the student is a resident of a country located less than or more than 4,000 kilometers from Brussels, the coordinating body of the BDMA program, respectively. Verification of place of residence will be based on the provision of documents such as a certificate of residence issued by the candidate in accordance with the general registration rules of the municipality or a certificate of work, study, or training of the candidate issued by the employer.   • Installation cost: 1,000 euros.

Scholarship holders contributing to the cost of accommodation will not be paid for the duration of the BDMA program (study, research, internship, or thesis preparation) that has taken place in the country of residence of the student, nor BD Scholarship holders from partner countries spend more than three months in any partner country for the duration of the MA program.

Participation costs that cover the registration fee are assumed directly by the consortium. The rest of the scholarship will be allocated to the selected students as follows.

  • Two annual installments, each covering half of the travel expenses.
  • A fee of 1,000 1,000 covers installation costs for students from partner countries.
  • 24 monthly installments of 1,000 euros for living expenses.
  • Scholarships will be paid by bank transfer.

All scholarship holders will receive insurance that meets the minimum insurance requirements of the Erasmus + program for JMD.

Erasmus+ Master Degree Loans

Erasmus + Master Loans allow prospective BDMA students access to loans to support their studies. Loans for BDMA as a 2-year master’s are up to € 18,000 and can cover both living expenses and tuition fees. Please note that these loans are only available to students from program countries.
