The Scottish Solitaire Scholarship is a Scholarship program sponsored by the Scottish Government in collaboration with Scottish institutions in the fields of research, technology, creative industries, healthcare, medical sciences, and renewable and clean energy.
The scheme provides up to 50 grants, worth £ 8,000 each, to cover the cost of one-year tuition for a full-time postgraduate master’s degree at any higher education institution in Scotland.

Carnegie Trust is pleased to offer an international Ph.D. Scholarships at Scottish universities. Candidates must have a first-class honors degree from a Scottish university. Each year the trust awards a Ph.D. Scholarships for first-class honors graduates from Scottish universities who plan to pursue a three-year postgraduate course that will result in a doctorate.
- On 21 August 1902, the Carnegie Trust was granted a Royal Charter for Scottish Universities. At a time when total government funding for four Scottish organizations was less than £ 50,000 a year, the trust relied on a 10 million partnership.
- The trust will also pay tuition fees at the level of the RCUK indicator fee for the academic year (universities are expected to waive any outstanding amount).
- During the doctorate. The duration of the scholarship will cover up to £ 3,000 of trust peer study or research expenses. Research grant forms will be sent to scholars in advance.
- Fellows can put up to £ 3,000 in grants, scholarships, or awards any year.

- There is an entrance fee to each Scottish university (announced annually by the trust). Each institution must select its preferred candidates in a timely manner by submitting an online application and support form by the trust’s deadline. The current nomination can be found in the appendix to the quota regulations.
- Applicants selected by the university must complete an online application form and register with the trust. The application site will open 4 weeks before the submission deadline and will be made available to successful applicants through your university’s Scholarship Administrator. University liaison is listed in the Program Rules and Application Guide (on the Guidelines and Regulations page).
- The Ph.D. candidate’s application must be approved online by their potential supervisor before the deadline. For each department/school, a senior academic (director, deputy director, director of research, director of graduate studies, or dean) should write a statement of institutional support. Signed by a university official who can confirm that the nominee is one of their favorite candidates. A copy of the form is available from the university liaison mentioned in the appendix to the regulations.
- The Trust requires a completely online application and the recommendation of a potential supervisor for successful applicants. The winners of each year appear at the end of May.
- They must also notify the trustee of any award or examination results received after submission of nominations.
